Legato Systems is opening an SA office and appointing a territory manager as part of its initiative to grow business in the local market and to ensure the channel is better supported to meet customers` demands.
"The channel is vital to our strategy to expand into new markets, and it makes sense for us to open a local office to ensure these relationships are maintained and that our partners` and customers` requirements are fulfilled," says Nick van Wyk, Legato`s Northern Europe VP.
Legato reports it has seen a threefold increase in revenue between 2001 and 2003, making it a force in storage. It has, in addition, identified expansion possibilities in its message management offering through its scrutiny of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act.
"E-mail has had an impact on IT demands within businesses, due to its growth in numbers and size. According to our research, 85% of respondents are receiving up to 100 e-mails per day," says Van Wyk.
Legato`s solutions allow businesses to cope with the increasing volumes of e-mail and their storage, for instance through hierarchical storage management of old e-mails and archiving.
"Electronic exchange of information has become the norm and the fact that an electronic document is now considered a legal document has highlighted the requirement to ensure e-mail documents are stored, can be retrieved and are not tampered with."
