Letlhaka partners with Tilgin

Johannesburg, 28 Jan 2009

Letlhaka Technologies, a BEE company specialising in fibre access solutions including the design and development of Gigabit Ethernet Passive Optical Networks (GEPONs), has partnered with Tilgin, a global provider of customer premises equipment (CPE) for triple play and IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystems) based services.

Corne van der Merwe, Letlhaka Technologies MD, says Letlhaka is one of the first companies worldwide to be appointed by Tilgin as part of its new business partner programme. “The partner programme is designed to offer a more comprehensive solution to its customers and to provide professional service on a regional level. Under the new programme, Tilgin will closely work with a limited number of skilled regional and local partners, consisting of systems integrators, value added resellers and value added distributors.”

Together with regional and local business partners, Tilgin is targeting national operators and new service providers looking to expand from basic broadband services to voice and new media services. Letlhaka delivers proven, standards-based passive optical network access equipment that operates at gigabit speeds. A complete suite of central office and customer premise equipment simplifies deployment for both Fibre-to-the-Business and Fibre-to-the-Home applications. Alloptic uses a pure passive point-to-multipoint fibre optic architecture ie, no active components in the field.

“As a full triple play system and solution provider, Tilgin can now give its business partners the opportunity to offer a more solid and comprehensive proposition to their customers,” says Ola Berglund, CEO of Tilgin. “The potential for this programme is huge, but it will ultimately be dependent on the quality of our partners. We are therefore proud to be working with a group of initial partners, each of whom is a leader in their field and region, and we look forward to building on these foundations to create a strong partnership network across the EMEA region.”

The programme will offer two levels of partnership, depending on the type of business and the levels of service offered. The first level, Tilgin Premium Solutions Partner, is designed for systems integrators that have the means to deliver complete solutions to customers. The second level, Tilgin Certified Reseller Partner, is for value added resellers or distributors that focus on selling platforms and products.

In order to maintain consistency and quality within the network, Tilgin is running a business partner certification programme and working with each potential partner to analyse solutions, proposals and post-sales support. The certification process enables Tilgin to provide great value in terms of business relations, discount margins and additional support. “Central management functionality and provisioning of CPE are crucial factors to enable us to offer low cost of ownership to our customers. We believe that Tilgin has the right approach to home gateway solutions, it offers reliable, high-quality products, and we are pleased to be working alongside Tilgin within the partnership programme,” says Wood. “Tilgin's products and solutions are robust and stable, giving our customers less hassle and ultimately making life easier for the home user. This helps operators to keep and attract new customers in a very competitive market situation,” he concludes.
