Lexmark International SA today announced that it has appointed Twala Global Cargo, a black economic empowerment company, as its inbound freight of choice.
"Our decision to appoint Twala Global cargo was made after an extensive evaluation and was based on pricing, service and their BEE status," commented Hans Horn, MD of Lexmark International SA.
Twala Global, 50% black-owned, was established in March 2002 and subsequently operational in June, will initially be supported in its operations, administration and management by Clover Cargo International. This support will also include funding, the transfer of skills on an on-going basis and input into strategic planning processes.
Twala Global is deeply committed to the educational upliftment of its staff and supports the National Skills Development Strategy. It is working closely with the Transport Education and Training Authority and related authorities to implement learnerships and will pursue a recruitment policy that extends the concept of empowerment.
"Historically, Twala`s partner Clover Cargo was one of the original freight handlers for Venture Computer, before its acquisition by Lexmark International in 2001," added Horn. "Consequently, we know that they understand our business, and the unique dynamics of the local market. We are confident that they will be able work closely with us to satisfy our specific requirements."
Director, Founder and Shareholder, South Africa-born Reuben Dzonzie, is a logistics careerist, educated in Sweden, with several years experience in Zimbabwe with Manica and in SA with Bax Global and Exel.
