Venture Computer, the sole distributor in Southern Africa for Lexmark International, today announced that Lexmark is further expanding its capacity for the production of inkjet products. Lexmark has broken ground for a new plant in Chihuahua, Mexico and is enlarging its existing inkjet operation in Juarez.
This announcement comes just four months after Lexmark broke ground for an inkjet products facility in the Philippines, which is expected to be in production later this year. An expansion of the company`s inkjet products plant in Rosyth, Scotland also began earlier this year.
The increased production reflects the popularity of Lexmark`s award-winning line of colour inkjet printers. The company entered the inkjet market in 1994 and in November 1997 created the rapidly growing sub-US$100 category.
"The inkjet printer business is the fastest-growing part of Lexmark," said Richard Fearon, Business Development Director at venture Computer. "We and Lexmark both expect continued strong growth in this market and the expanded production capacity will enable Lexmark to better meet customer demands worldwide."
