Lexmark`s Cartridge Recycling Initiative for Babies (CRIB) has been highly successful in raising money for the children of the Cotlands baby sanctuary.
An annual golf day is held by Lexmark to create awareness for the recycling initiative and raise funds for Cotlands. This year`s event, held on 17 November at Dainfern Country Club, was a triumph for both parties, raising in excess of R80 000 for the children`s charity.
Says Hans Horn, Managing Director of Lexmark SA: "CRIB as a programme has allowed Lexmark and its partners and customers to address environmental issues, such as cartridge recycling, while giving something back to the community. More importantly, it is a way in which we are able to give back to the children of South Africa, who need us the most. Our golf day is a fun way of raising funds for Cotlands and has become an eagerly anticipated event on the IT calendar."
Eighty golfers, consisting of employees in the IT industry and their customers, turned up in support of Cotlands. Local celebrities like 94.7`s Graeme Joffe and Candice Moodley from Eastern Mosaic were there to entertain the players, as well as play host to the golfers.
Says Jackie Schoeman, Director of Cotlands: "The long-term partnership we have with Lexmark has provided Cotlands with the financial sustainability to expand the scope of our services. This ongoing support has contributed significantly to the growth of our organisation, and we are now able to offer services in four provinces, assisting more that 1 500 children every month. We are truly grateful to Lexmark for its commitment to Cotlands, and on behalf of the children we serve, we would like to extend our warmest thanks to all who gave so generously towards our cause."
Lexmark would like to thank the sponsors Axiz, ACT, Bula Communications, CEOS, CHM Vuwani Pretoria, Enterprise Connection, Imbumba Technologies, Kolok Unlimited, Lechabile IT Services, Sahara Computers, SITA, Sizwe Group and TCM for their help in making this annual event a resounding success year after year.
