Lexmark printer targets SMEs

Johannesburg, 10 May 2004

Lexmark has announced the arrival of a colour laser printer aimed at the small and medium enterprise (SME) market, with a base price below R7 000.

"While the use of colour in business documents has grown steadily, really robust business printers were often priced out of reach of small workgroups and SMEs," says Hans Horn, MD of Lexmark SA.

"We believe we have advanced the business printing landscape with the introduction of the C510, giving customers an easy-to-use laser which provides business-class colour at an affordable price."

The C510 can print 30 pages per minute (ppm) in monochrome and 8ppm in colour with 2400 Image Quality resolution. The printer is powered by a 500MHz processor and 64MB of memory.

The printer makes use of Lexmark`s solutions, expandable memory and paper-handling options with a user-friendly interface, says the company.

A significant consideration for SMEs is the cost of colour printing, says Horn, and the C510 comes with tools to help this. Customers can monitor colour use or make colour printing available to authorised users only, using Lexmark`s Color Care technologies.

"The C510 opens up a whole new world of durability and functionality for our customers at a more affordable price. It really is a game-changing product that will set the standard for our business customers and our competition," says Horn.
