Venture Computer, the sole distributor for Lexmark International in South Africa, today announced the lowest cost bar code printing solution tested as compliant for use with SAP R/3 enterprise resource planning (ERP) software. Customers who manage company operations with the popular SAP application suite now have more printer choices for bar code printing. All members of Lexmark`s award-winning Optra S family of monochrome laser printers, ranging in speed from 12 to 34 pages per minute, are compatible with the new Optra Bar Code SIMM.
Lexmark`s bar code solution is available at a competitive price, thus customers benefit from not only the lowest cost solution, but also from having a second choice in the industry for SAP R/3 bar code printing. Other benefits include minimised network traffic through printer-based bar code generation and intelligent architecture that selects the most efficient compression algorithm for sophisticated bar codes.
Convenience features from Lexmark for bar code printing include the capability to embed text and graphics, scale bar code heights and widths, verify data formatting and compress data automatically.
SAP AG is a leader in the ERP software market, and has tested the Lexmark Optra Bar Code SIMM and Optra S printers for use with SAP R/3 applications. SAP America, a division of SAP AG, is a Lexmark customer for printing products in the United States. SAP AG also maintains an extensive list of Lexmark printers that are compatible with SAP R/3 applications.
SAP R/3 customers currently printing bar codes can choose and install Lexmark printers with no alterations to existing applications. No application changes are necessary for customers using the HP JetCAPS bar code SIMM when they implement the Lexmark bar code printing solution.
