LG Electronics has heeded to consumer calls and unveiled six new feature-rich hi-tech mobile phones at CommunicAsia 2005, the leading communications and IT event in Asia.
The new line-up of phones includes the DMB (Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) phone, a new slide phone, a five-megapixel camera phone, a 3D game phone, an MP3 music phone and a handset modelled on a sports car.
"LG has added a futuristic element to the mobile communications industry with these innovatively designed handsets. With these six models, we continue with our effort of providing consumers with an exciting digital experience," says Mun-hwa Park, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.
All six models are equipped with state-of-the-art multimedia functions. The mobile broadcasting phone, SB120, enables those on the move to enjoy crystal-clear video, CD-quality audio and satellite-transmitted data. Unlike conventional satellite DMB models, users can savour video-on-the-move services with the phone`s monitor that pulls back 360 degrees. This model also has a two-megapixel camera to support auto focus functions.
The new slide phone, LP3900, has a two-layer display and a mobile monitor screen. The handset is Bluetooth enabled and supports high quality audiovisual functions. It also adopts multi-tasking functions enabling users to enjoy games, SMS, video/photo capture and wireless Internet service while listening to MP3 music.
The slick five-megapixel handset, a super-slim handheld at just 18mm, features a digital camera, an auto focus CCD camera and a two-inch QVGA LCD screen that supports VGA-level video at 30 fps (frame per second). The model also features a strobe flash, half-shutter and lens cover.
The 3D game phone, SV360 / KV3600, is the first cellular phone to be armed with a one million polygon/second graphic accelerator chip that processes data five times faster than currently available chips. This allows users to play games with more realistic 3D graphics. The phone is also equipped with acceleration sensors which allow users to control the game by moving it up and down or left to right. To improve visual quality for gaming, this handset is equipped with a 2.2-inch LCD screen.
"The MP3 music phone, KP4400, has a multi-tasking feature; this allows users to receive or make phone calls and play games while listening to music. It also has 256MB memory for MP3 and a five-band equaliser, allowing it to connect to audio equipment," continues Park.
The LG 410 series adopts the shape of a trendy European sports car and features a sensor that can measure blood-alcohol levels. The model also features enhanced multimedia characteristics such as a 1.3-megapixel camera, TV remote control functions, video recording and playback, MMS and MP3 functions. The handset, designed in conjunction with a sports-car company in the Milan Design Centre, simulates live engine noises when making phone calls.
"With these new models, LG is consolidating its reputation as a technology innovator. We have manufactured the world`s first PTV (Push-To-View) phone where multiple users share live video in real-time, the world`s first DMB handset, the first diabetes (healthcare) handset, the first synchronous/asynchronous combined 3G handset, the slimmest CDMA handset, the first IS-95B wireless date handset and the first CDMA digital handset," concludes Park.
