LG makes extension call on new cellphone

G7050 introduced with sliding keypad, larger screen and rear-mounted camera
Johannesburg, 23 Jan 2004

With phones continually decreasing in size, the challenge to all manufacturers is to keep the screens clear and the interface user-friendly. LG has solved the problem with a new approach and introduced its first sliding keypad phone, the G7050.

The phone remains incredibly light (99g) and compact (94mm x 44mm x 21mm) while containing a huge (128x160) 65 000 colour screen. This makes viewing of the pictures taken with the rear-mounted VGA camera better than ever before.

Customisation of the phone is also easy with the ability to upload over 200 graphics, any JPEG, Bitmap or GIF picture and over 150 different polyphonic ringtones.

Such a high quality camera is usually reserved for premium phones, but LG has fitted the G7050 with a VGA camera capable of sequence shot, photo effects and a 4x digital zoom.

Simple interface is an essential feature for any phone, and the large, voice keypad on LG`s latest offering is one of the best. The full graphics menu is easy to learn and allows for instinctive scrolling around the large screen. Short cut keys and voice dialling make for even easier access to commonly used functions.

The G7050 is resounding proof that good things do come in small packages.
