LGE SA secures foothold in multimedia storage market

LG Electronics SA`s IT division has announced a new addition to its line of storage devices, the CED-8080B CD-Rewritable Recorder, which offers the functionality of a 8-speed CD-R, 4-speed CD-RW and 32-speed CD-ROM drive.

"Multimedia applications continue to demand faster and larger storage solutions and the CED-8080B CD-Rewritable Recorder offers a convenient one-source solution for consumers and multimedia professionals who wish to write, record and play CD-ROMS," says Jaehong Kim, Information Products Manager: IT division at LG Electronics SA.

The CD-Rewritable Recorder has an average access speed of 100ms and a 2MB buffer memory to minimise errors that can occur during recording. Additional features include compatibility with diverse CD-R and CD-RW discs and, using LG`s patented technology, minimises disc vibration and noise.

"Using the bundled adaptec mastering , users can make any type of CD including audio, CD-ROM, photo and video. CD-Rewritable Recorder can also play CD-R, CD-RW, CD-ROM XA/CD-DA ( Audio), Multi session, CD Extra, CD-TEXT, Mixed Mode and video CD," says Kim.

The CD-RW drive is plug-and-play compatible with Windows 95/98 and NT operating systems.
