Hardware manufacturer LG Electronics today began the retail launch of its newest flagship phone, the V30+.
The 6-inch phablet packs in image and audio features aimed at active video users and those who tell stories using their smartphones.
The LG V30 has a dual camera set-up on the back of the phone. The first camera has a standard angle lens with an F1.6 aperture. A bigger aperture lets more light in and translates into clearer pictures, a key feature where camera phones have always lagged behind adjustable lens digital cameras.
The second lens is a 13MP wide-angle lens with two-thirds less edge distortion than in the V20.
The device also has a 13MP camera in the front.
The LG V30 offers what it calls 'cinematic mode' for making movie-quality videos, without any training, that provides 15 pre-set options, including romantic comedy, summer blockbuster, mystery, thriller and classic movie effects.
"At LG, we design our products so that users can create and share meaningful content. The V30+ is no different ? we focused on video specifically to help people tell their stories in a visual, high-quality way," says Deon Prinsloo, LG SA mobile communications GM.
"Our developers collaborate to put our best efforts into the V30+ to deliver a smartphone that helps users create professional-looking content without professional-level complexity."
To unlock the LG V30, users can choose from facial recognition, voice recognition, or a fingerprint sensor.
The smartphone is available in SA with 128GB internal memory. It will sell for R15 469.
