At CeBIT today, Fujitsu Siemens Computers launched the LIFEBOOK S Series, featuring more power and improved long battery life for the wireless, mobile office.
Based on Intel Centrino Mobile Technology, the new LIFEBOOK S 6120 is the ultra-portable notebook with a multi-bay concept. This full function notebook allows flexible functionality at low weight and small form factor with quality and top performance throughout a long lifecycle. Data security and access protection is a key concern from Fujitsu Siemens Computers to enable secure mobile computing. Therefore the company offers a unique and convincing security concept in the mobile segment.
"The ultra-portable market faces still annual growth rates of 17% until 2006, especially in the corporate environment and SME-segment. One of the driving forces in 2003 is clearly the launch of the Intel Centrino Mobile Technology platform. This new technology is designed for mobility and delivers better wireless security and ease-of-use," said Peter Esser, Executive Vice-President, Volume Products at Fujitsu Siemens Computers.
The Intel Centrino Mobile Technology features a secure, wireless platform with extended battery life. It delivers leadership performance with lowest power within the notebook form factor. Unlike current systems, the new technology supplies power to components only where it is needed. This reduces the power consumption, decreases the heating of the processor and provides greater mobility for the user. Wireless connectivity is the key in Intel Centrino Mobile Technology-based systems and the platform itself enables wide area, local area, and personal area networks.
The LIFEBOOK S6120 is available in two versions: The standard version LIFEBOOK S6120D without wireless options based on the Intel Pentium M processor at 1.40GHz, and the version with integrated Bluetooth/Wireless LAN and Intel Pentium M processor at 1.40GHz or 1.60GHz. The modular bay accepts either a CD, DVD, Combo Drive (DVD/CD-R/RW), but also a DVD burner (+R/RW), a second hard disk drive for data backup or a second battery.
Fujitsu Siemens Computers will start shipping Intel Centrino Mobile Technology with LIFEBOOK S6120 and LIFEBOOK E4010 in May 2003 and LIFEBOOK C Series in June 2003.
