LiquidOffice leapfrogs Internet eForm products

Johannesburg, 05 Jul 2001

Prisma Solutions, a knowledge management company, has announced the release of the LiquidOffice eForm Management System.

As announced 15 March 2001, LiquidOffice is the result of an eForm Alliance formed by Cardiff Software and Adobe Systems. LiquidOffice, an XML-based solution, will leverage Adobe 5.0 portable document format (PDF) to route, approve, submit, and sign online forms through the use of standard Web clients. Organisations will now have a standard based solution for automating internal, public-facing and citizen-facing forms and processes.

Hugo Leuner, MD, Prisma Solutions, believes the market has been waiting for a standard-based solution that will leverage the acceptance of XML and Adobe PDF standards.

Leuner says LiquidOffice will be the preferred platform for implementing automated electronic forms because of Cardiff`s use of XML, HTML and Adobe PDF standards.

Prisma states that LiquidOffice will play a big role in e-government initiatives in South Africa as it will provide such departments with a single platform for automating internal and public form processes, such as applications for passports and ID documents. LiquidOffice will also assist government departments in eliminating paper through its automated process of data capturing and forms processing.

According to statistics given by Cardiff, organisations can save from $30 to $150 per form transaction when compared to paper forms processes. Leuner believes that LiquidOffice leapfrogs Internet eForm products through its elimination of maintenance and expenses associated with thick-client, ActiveX-or Java based plug-ins. LiquidOffice make use of a combination of Web, XML, Adobe PDF and HTML standards to deliver a centralised eForm repository and advanced service for routing, tracking, approval and processing.
