Oracle Corporation has announced today that Liverpool City Council has signed a deal worth lb6 million for CRM, HR and payroll and iProcurement modules from the 11i E-Business Suite of applications, Oracle Internet Architecture products and ongoing support services.
The solutions provided by Oracle will form the basis of the council`s drive to improve levels of service to citizens and businesses in Liverpool and to reduce costs by eliminating internal inefficiencies. The implementation will play a key role in Liverpool City Council`s plan to transform itself into a customer-centric, e-enabled organisation and assist in its ultimate aim to raise the profile of the city worldwide by leading the way in intelligence-led local government.
The council will use the CRM modules to extend and further improve the services offered by the Liverpool Direct call centre and local `one stop shops` and also provide a basis for services to be accessed through a Web portal. Moving all information to a single source and replacing several disparate legacy systems with Oracle HR and Payroll applications will remove current silos of information and improve access to vital management information, which in turn will allow better decisions to be made.
David McElhinney, executive director, City of Liverpool, commented: "Liverpool City Council prides itself on already being at the cutting-edge of local government through our use of technology - we currently have one of the largest call centres of its kind in the UK to improve the services we offer residents. Our investment in Oracle technology will enable Liverpool City Council to move significantly closer to our goal of being a truly 24-hour council with the citizen at the heart of our enterprise. Central to achieving our goal is a solid foundation on which to build, and this is what Oracle`s applications and architecture represents for Liverpool City Council."
Stephen Millard, product marketing director, Oracle UK, commented: "By harnessing technology to improve the way the council is run, Liverpool City Council can not only bring itself closer to its citizens and reduce costs, it will also stand as a leader in the public sector in making use of the Internet to improve the lives of Liverpool`s citizens."
