Spescom Software Inc, the US subsidiary of JSE-listed ICT group, Spescom Ltd, today announced it has completed installation of its eB software suite at Lloyd's Register, a leading London-based independent risk management organisation.
The system, designed to provide rapid online access to documentation and drawings on ships listed on the Lloyd's Register, will be used directly by approximately 6 000 people worldwide.
Spescom Software's eB suite, with its unique Targeted Image Extraction (TIE) technology, will improve the way in which Lloyd's sends documents, especially large format drawings, around the world. Prior to selecting Spescom's software tool, Lloyds Register was planning to simply scan this information, then store it on a server and provide wide area network (WAN) access to the data. However, the time to download these large images would have been unacceptable to users.
