Local ISP seeks black partners

Johannesburg, 27 Mar 2003

Local provider (ISP) DataPro is set to partner with black empowerment IT vendors as it seeks to promote a number of value-added services which it has developed.

"DataPro is pursuing a number of possible black empowerment businesses that would partner with us to provide a suite of Internet connectivity solutions," says Douglas Reed, MD of DataPro.

He says DataPro is looking to appoint black empowerment resellers to assist with promoting these value-added services, which go beyond "simply providing ".

"These value-added services are in line with government`s policy of moving away from imported software licence fees and outsourcing non-core services."

He says government is intensifying its drive to promote black empowerment initiatives, so DataPro`s move in this direction is both correct and timely.

"We are committed to the government`s aim of levelling the playing field in the South African economy and making business more representative of the population, and we realise that if business at large does not take black empowerment seriously, the economy will suffer in the long-term.

"We believe in building long-term, mutually beneficial relationships with all partners, and have therefore undertaken to tailor-make partnership agreements to suit the reseller`s company culture and future strategies, offering them the perfect opportunity to increase their bottom line."
