Self-confessed Mac addict Brett Haggard is to launch Macinista.com, a business and consumer portal aimed at the Apple user community. The launch will coincide with Apple`s thirtieth birthday on April 1.
Macinista is a slang term for a dedicated follower of the Mac platform and all things Apple, and the site is a first of its kind for the local online Mac user community.
The site, touted as a 'for users by users` development, offers a blend of news based on vertical sections, which include: design and print, audio and video, small to medium business enterprises, and lastly, the home-user market.
The site also has a forum section where users can discuss and provide community-based support for hardware, software and technical issues. Future plans include podcasting, featuring roundtable discussions on various technical and industry issues relating to the platform, as well as chats on tips and tricks.
Haggard says users can expect a biweekly update on what`s happening in the Macintosh world worldwide, but with a local flavour.
Haggard says the portal, to be edited by Simon Dingle, has already received positive feedback and support from Apple, Digicape and Adobe locally.
