London borough extends outsourcing deal
The deal will see Capita deliver a range of services to the borough, including ICT support services and call centre management.
Lambeth councillor for finance Paul McGlone says the new contract would improve the council's standard of contact with its residents, as well as cut costs.
Fox Business states the partnership will extend revenue collection services administered by Capita. And management of the council's call centre operations, ICT management and a benefits resilience service.
Capita says it will invest £6.5 million in new technology and that the contract will provide savings projected at 16.5% or £10 million over its lifetime, and generate an additional £5 million in council tax revenue, reveals Guardian.co.uk.
McGlone states: “The new partnership with Capita will ensure we continue to improve the quality and standard of contact with our residents, but also save money.
“The service model proposed by Capita is flexible and scalable over time, meaning it is 'future proofed' for changes in the way people communicate with us. This will lead to a much improved experience when people contact us to pay their council tax, inquire about their benefits, find out about a service or report a problem.”
