LOOPHOLD Security Distribution, an official distributor of products from SonicWALL in South Africa, has introduced SonicWALL's CDP Box-to-Box Backup technology to the local market.
The solution allows customers to use a SonicWALL Continuous Data Protection (CDP) appliance as an offsite data backup solution.
Says Martin Tassev, managing director of LOOPHOLD Security Distribution: "The offering will create further opportunities for resellers, allowing them to offer secure hosted vault services to their end-user customers.
"This delivers complete control to customers that prefer to handle their own off-site backup and recovery rather that relying on a third-party."
The CDP Box-to-Box Backup allows customers who already use SonicWALL's CDP technology to replicate local data in real-time to an "upstream" CDP appliance located off-site.
Using Box-to-Box Backup, the most current copy of data can rapidly be recovered after a disaster strikes, reducing business downtime from hours and days to minutes and seconds. This capability allows employees have the most recent data at their fingertips within minutes and business to be up and running as usual with minimum downtime.
The appliances also offer other benefits. They require minimum bandwidth as they offer incremental backups, updating only block level changes within files. IT administrators can also manage backups more efficiently and effectively with easy-to-use central management and remote administration features.
The offsite backup and recovery solution is comprehensive, delivering control over data backup and recovery functions. The information transmitted is totally secure with encryption provided by an AES 256-bit encryption key.
A separate licence and current support contract are required in order to utilise Box-to-Box Backup. This service runs on SonicWALL CDP Version 3.0 firmware. Current users of CDP appliances will automatically have their appliances updated to Version 3.0.
