LOOPHOLD Security Distribution, a distributor of Information Security ("InfoSec") technologies in southern Africa, has signed a distribution agreement with Mirage Networks, Inc. to make their range of Network Access Control (NAC) and behavioural analysis products accessible to the local market.
Mirage's Endpoint Control solutions are delivered on easy-to-deploy, network-based appliances that are platform independent. The appliances are deployed out-of-band, eliminating the need for customers to re-architect their networks or integrate with switches or routers.
Says Martin Tassev, Managing Director at LOOPHOLD: "Mirage's solutions deliver an agent-less approach to interior network security. This offers organisations enhanced security, with the flexibility to allow 'unmanaged' devices access to their network. We have conducted a thorough evaluation of products in the NAC arena and believe Mirage offers a highly functional security solution that complements our existing security portfolio perfectly."
Notes Peter Ruijters, VP EMEA for Mirage Networks: "LOOPHOLD provides us with the opportunity to establish a footprint in Africa. We will leverage their extensive experience in building trusted networks to deliver our solutions to this market. LOOPHOLD is one of the few distributors in South Africa with knowledge of this relatively new area of technology."
Mirage's solutions use behavioural rules to detect when devices are spreading threats or violating policies, even if the threat is new, patches are unavailable or are not yet installed. It then surgically isolates the device in question, avoiding cross-infection while enabling remediation. Once the threat is removed, the device is again given access to network resources. In this manner, damage from threats introduced into the network by mobile computing, remote connections, and zero-day malware is stopped. The solution complements perimeter security solutions and gives companies a more complete, in-depth security defence infrastructure.
Mirage's easy to deploy, easy to manage, appliance-based technology:
* Covers all Operating Systems ("OS") and Internet Protocol ("IP") devices, from desktop workstations to IP phones and PDAs;
* Is effective without agents and can scale to manage thousands of endpoint devices;
* Works seamlessly with current IT and networking infrastructure, and leverages investments in tested security solutions;
* Catches zero-day threats out of the box and without signatures;
* Ensures policy enforcement and threat termination from the moment any device enters the network.
Mirage Networks is the leading provider of network access control (NAC) solutions, including both pre- and post-admission security. The company's patented technology gives organisations control over unknown, out-of-policy, and infected devices, resulting in increased network uptime, policy compliance and reduced operational costs. Mirage's NAC appliances work in all network environments, deploy out-of-band and require neither signatures nor agents to enforce policies and terminate zero-day threats. Based in Austin, Texas, Mirage Networks' Endpoint Control is a consistent winner of industry awards.
