Lotus and AVT Corporation form global strategic alliance

By PR Connections
Johannesburg, 15 Nov 1999

Lotus Development and AVT have signed a global strategic alliance agreement to provide comprehensive unified messaging solutions for the Lotus Domino Release 5 (R5) server, the Lotus Notes Release 5 (R5) client and the millions of seats of version 4.6 within the Lotus installed base. Gil Caplan, CEO of Voicematix, the sole suppliers and installers of AVT products in South Africa, says the alliance gives Domino users in SA access to an optimum unified messaging solution.

"Unified messaging is a core part of Lotus` strategy to further expand the reach and value of our Notes and Domino collaboration platform," says Steve Dunbar, marketing manager at Lotus SA.

"The initial offering will combine the AVT unified messaging solution, CallXpress, with the groupware solutions, the Lotus Domino server and the Lotus Notes client. It allows users to access all message types, voice, fax, and e-mail from virtually any device, including Notes at the desktop PC, the telephone, or a Web browser," he says.

The Notes and Domino versions of CallXpress deliver advanced unified messaging functionality such as a single message store, a single address book for addressing all message types, ActiveX controls for managing voice and fax messages from the Notes client.
