Lotus Development Corp. & Telstra Corporation today announced an agreement which will allow Telstra to offer access to Domino servers for mail, calendaring and corporate directory from WAP devices, including mobile phones. This licensing agreement will allow Telstra to offer a new WAP-based service offering for its customers.
The new Telstra WAP service will allow organizations with a Lotus Domino-based infrastructure to deliver information from existing corporate applications to their users over hand-held, WAP-enabled devices.
Telstra`s WAP service, incorporating Lotus Mobile Notes software, will give organizations practical business benefits from using WAP at an enterprise-level to deliver information to mobile users. Not only can traditional Lotus Notes users send and receive e-mail and manage their calendars from their WAP phones, now they can also participate in business processes and access information managed by Domino servers.
This agreement reinforces Telstra`s position as Australia`s leading telecommunications and information services company. It represents another achievement in our mobile Internet & data strategy.

Users can handle time-sensitive customer relationship tasks, calls, last-minute meeting notices and other urgent action items. By adding wireless support to the collaborative infrastructure, an organization can operate more effectively, move faster, and be more responsive to customers.
Employees using traditional Internet browser-equipped workstations can now participate in critical business processes while away from the office environment. Furthermore, organizations can now reach employees or customers in circumstances where a mobile phone is the most practical interface due to the nature of their work, such as service technicians, delivery people or employees in temporary work agencies.
