Lotus unveils new Discovery technology

IBM`s Lotus Development SA has announced local availability of its Discovery Server, an advanced data search and expertise location solution designed to help customers maintain and grow their knowledge capital.

This server uncovers and displays the link between people, content and topics helping to ensure that all of the relevant knowledge and experiences of an organisation are readily available for the execution of related tasks and projects.

Lesego Tlhabanelo, marketing manager at Lotus Development SA, says the development of innovative knowledge management solutions that support and help protect the business and investments of its customers, is the foundation of Lotus` knowledge management leadership.

"This category-defining product can help businesses realise the value of their intellectual capital and therefore create a measurable competitive edge," he adds.

When the Lotus Discovery Server is combined with the portal capabilities of Lotus K-station, a next-generation enterprise portal, they comprise the recently announced Lotus Knowledge Discovery System.

Lotus K-station is designed to provide customers with an easily personalised single point of access for retrieving critical information and collaborating with others both inside and outside the organisation. Tlhabanelo says both products are fully integrated and can be used in unison or as individual solutions.
