LW70 multimedia notebook leads LG`s new fleet

Johannesburg, 18 Jul 2005

LG Electronics` LW70 notebook is set to spearhead the charge which should see the company greatly increase its market share this year. The multimedia notebook is joined by the tablet, mainstream and premium ranges, which will build on the great platform that was established after launching LG notebooks in SA last year.

All new LG notebooks are built using Sonoma, Intel`s innovative new Centrino platform with a mobile Intel 915 express chipset and Intel WLAN. As a result, the LW70 yields incomparable wireless performance with a next-generation data bus, PCI express and leading-edge high performance DDR II memory. Through the application of DDR II dual channel memory operating at 533MHz, consumers can experience more than two times the data transmission rate of DDR memory.

Added to that, the new notebook boasts impressive multimedia functionality with a standard ATI Mobility Radeon X600 graphics card.

This improves graphic performance through 128MB of maximum graphics memory and a PCI express interface that provides four times faster graphic performance compared to previous models. The fine bright LCD screen also allows consumers to enjoy bright high quality video.

Another very useful function is the Instant On Player which, with a simple push of a button, allows users to enjoy CD and DVD playback instantly without have to boot-up.

Shaun Michell, national sales manager for LG notebooks, says: "The LW70 is the embodiment of the state-of-the-art notebook and is targeted at the performance and feature-conscious consumer."

On the audio side, 5.1 channel Dolby digital sound is supported and a woofer is installed in the notebook to allow more live and expressive sound. A multimedia card slot will provide a convenient advantage when you need to interface with various digital devices such as digital camcorders, digital cameras, and MP3 players.

The LW70 is also equipped with the LG Super Multi drive, which records to all formats and supports dual layer DVD recording (equivalent to 8.5GB of storage capacity) onto a single DVD.

"With all of the incredible features installed in this notebook, including a full numeric keypad and a 17-inch screen, one would think the machine may be a little big to handle. However, the LW70 boasts an ultra-thin and light design, which has become the calling card for all LG notebooks," adds Michell.

"With the desktop market migrating more and more to notebooks, it is models such as the LW70 that are going to capture a great deal of those sales, as the user does not have to sacrifice features for portability," concludes Michell.
