Mac gets Apple App Store

One of the features that propelled the iPhone to mainstream success, Apple's App Store was officially introduced to Mac desktops and laptops last week, reveals Fox Business.

First revealed in October when Apple showed off its upcoming 'Lion' version of OS X, the App Store serves a similar purpose to the store found on the company's mobile products: the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad.

It provides users with a one-stop-shop for finding, buying, downloading, and updating on their Mac desktops and notebooks.

Origin takes PCs to Sandy Bridge

Origin PC has joined the crowd of Sandy Bridge supporters by revealing that its Genesis and Big O desktops will be available with second-generation Core processors as of this week, reports Tech Connect.

The company's EON15 and EON17 notebooks will also adopt Sandy Bridge chips but later this quarter.

"Intel's latest technology delivers gamers and creative professionals a new level of processing power and intuitive convenience," says Kevin Wasielewski, CEO and co-founder of Origin.

Dolby boosts laptop sound

Dolby's new PC Entertainment Experience 4, or PPEEv4, pushes the capacity of one of the weakest sound players on the planet: the laptop, says PC World.

Built into the new line of Acer Aspire Ethos computers, PC World says PPEEv4 sounded great and didn't disappoint at CES this week.

The PPEEv4 has two levels, the mid-range Dolby Advanced Audio and the high-end Dolby Home Theatre. The Home Theatre is the one to watch, as it has several new tech abilities to make the sound better on built-in computer speakers.
