This important new release features support for distributed AFP to PCL printing and support for PSF/2.VTAMPRINT is in daily use at MVS mainframe installations worldwide, providing a fully integrated print management system for CICS, JES2, VTAM and TCP/IP. VTAMPRINT/PCL supports the printing of AFP documents on PCL printers which are connected to SNA or TCP/IP networks, without any modifications to existing AFP documents or resources.Extending The AFP Capabilities of VTAMPRINT/MVSThe VTAMPRINT/IPDS feature, which enables AFP and non-AFP printing on 3270 IPDS printers, has been enhanced to include support for PSF/2. This new functionality extends the AFP printing capabilities of VTAMPRINT/MVS to all OS/2 networks.Commenting on this announcement, Jim Allum, Print Products Marketing Manager said: "The announcement of VTAMPRINT/PCL is a further step towards our objective to be the leader in cross platform print management. Installations are increasingly investing in high quality, low-cost PCL printers. VTAMPRINT/PCL allows them to maximize their investment in AFP architecture by enabling any AFP document to be printed on these printers which are now in abundance at most sites. This significantly improves end-user productivity by delivering high quality AFP documents directly to their workstations."
