Mait forecasts economic recovery

The Manufacturers' Association for Information Technology (Mait), representing the hardware, training and R&D services sectors of the IT industry in India, has released its findings for the Quarterly Industry Performance Review, says India Infoline.

The report shows the total PC sales between October and December 2009, with desktop computers, notebooks and netbooks totalling two million units, registering a growth of 42%. The sales of desktops stood at 1.35 million units, while netbooks and notebooks taken together recorded 0.66 million units, growing 27% and 90% respectively.

"The impact of the global economic recession is now well behind us and the IT hardware industry in India is once again on a growth path,” says Vinnie Mehta, Mait executive director.

Kingston predicts growth for 2010

Kingston Technology expects robust growth in its revenue and unit sales in the Middle East in 2010, says Zawya.

"Kingston Technology experienced an upward trend in both unit and revenue in 2009, and this is set to continue in 2010," says Antoine Harb, business development manager for Kingston Technology in the Middle East, citing a 17% growth for 2009.

Kingston Technology's increase was attributed to a rise in average selling price, healthier demand from corporate end-customers and consumers, and the company's entry into the solid-state drive market.
