Finance minister Trevor Manuel is expected to address the Saambou crisis in Parliament later today.

Opposition parties are hoping the address will go a long way towards clarifying the concerns of Saambou clients. Staff members of the beleaguered are also expected to be told their fate today, during a meeting with the curator.

While Saambou savings and transmission account holders now have access to up to R4 000 of their money, certain 20Twenty clients with 20one accounts were able to access up to R1 000 of their money from 1pm yesterday, and clients with less then R4 000 in their 20one accounts will be able to withdraw or transfer up to R4 000 from their accounts from today.

However, those with over R4 000 in their 20one accounts may not withdraw any funds yet.

This is in contrast with 20Twenty`s statement yesterday, in which all clients were told they could withdraw up to R4 000 from their accounts today.

20Twenty released a notice this morning stating that there had been a misunderstanding between the company and the curator`s office, and that only clients with a positive balance of under R4 000 may withdraw money.
