Ray Wilkinson, Map-IT MD, says the product brings an end to the concept of hit-and-miss marketing.
"Marketscope provides marketing managers with customised digital maps taken from data compiled over the years by sister company Map Studio. Managers are then able to manipulate the maps depending upon the enquiry to view the market and formulate a strategy," he says.
Neil Page, Map-IT development manager, says Marketscope helps companies to identify and reach their target market. Managers can view the information positioned on a map, or on spreadsheets, tables and pie charts, enabling marketing managers to examine the market and devise marketing strategies accordingly, Page says.
"Using different filters, managers can examine where income groups are situated on a map, show the company`s offices or dealerships, where the competition is situated and the exact addresses of the company`s client or customer base. All this information can then be used to understand where the company`s target market is situated, the best location for a product launch and what media to advertise in," he says.
Marketscope uses statistics from government census and data compiled by research company SAtoZ, which also provides continual updates for the product. The basic retail price for Marketscope is R5 000 a month. The subscription fee increases as more data is requested.
