MarkTrack solution from Lexmark helps users analyse printing habits, balance workload and allocate printing costs

Johannesburg, 20 Jul 1998

Venture Computer, the sole distributor in South Africa for Lexmark International, Inc. today announced an innovative new software product called MarkTrack. With MarkTrack, users can collect, store and analyse network printer information and easily create financial and administrative reports from a web browser.

Companies can efficiently balance printing workloads and allocate printing costs by department. MarkTrack also helps users plan future purchases for printers and supplies by analysing actual printing use by user, department or printer.

MarkTrack catalogues usage and inventory information for all SNMP-compliant printers including models from Lexmark, HP, IBM, Tektronix, Xerox and others. MarkTrack includes a state of the art relational database, a Sun Java-based web server, MarkVision(TM) for Windows NT 4.0 and the MarkTrack software.

MarkTrack generates reports that capture a variety of useful printer and printing related information including:

  • Printer activity reports to determine the optimum engine speed or printer model for each workgroup or department
  • A Cost Centre Utility which assigns printers to departments and charge for printer usage
  • Usage reports to make it easy to analyse printing trends
  • Detailed job statistics which show how many pages have been faxed, copied and printed on each Lexmark printer

"This is yet another example of how Lexmark are helping users reduce the hidden costs of printing within their work environment" commented Richard Fearon, the sales and marketing director at Venture Computer.
