Marshal8e6, the leader in Web and e-mail security for the K-12 market, today announced a technology partnership with ArcMail, a leading provider of e-mail archiving and management solutions.
Through this partnership, Marshal8e6 will add e-mail archiving to its integrated Secure Web Gateway (SWG) and e-mail security products, and create a “one-stop-shop” source for effective multi-layered security. Education agencies and districts can now protect their networks and their students while meeting federal regulations, with one cost-effective security package.
Marshal8e6's full line of security products, including the new ArcMail solution, will be on display at the Marshal8e6 booth (#2048) at the NECC Conference this week in Washington, DC.
"The partnership between Marshal8e6 and ArcMail is a perfect marriage of complementary technologies," said Todd Gates, chief executive officer of ArcMail. "Marshal8e6 recognises education customers' needs and the ease that a network appliance delivery model brings to the table. We see Marshal8e6 and ArcMail as a hand-in-glove fit for an end-to-end e-mail solution. We look forward to growing, leveraging and maximising this partnership on many levels."
Despite reduced IT budgets and resources, Marshal8e6 is able to address the increased challenge of protecting students and district networks while ensuring federal and district policy compliance. Their turnkey Secure Web Gateway and e-mail security products protect students and networks from the emerging security issue of blended threats: attacks that prey upon multiple vulnerabilities within networks. At the same time, Marshal8e6's solutions allow education institutions to be compliant under two federal regulations: the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP).
Under both federal requirements, educational institutions that receive funding from the US Department of Education must maintain strict controls over who has access to student records and ensure the privacy of student information (FERPA), and must maintain an inventory of various documents and data storage systems to determine whether the documents must be disclosed for possible e-discovery (FRCP).
Marshal8e6's Secure Web Gateway and e-mail security products allow districts to block, monitor and report on all e-mail and Web traffic, while monitoring for any data leakage, as required by FERPA, and ArcMail's products automatically capture, index and store inbound and outbound e-mails and attachments for possible e-discovery, as required by FRCP. Marshal8e6 customers can be assured that they meet both regulations and that their students are secure while surfing online.
“We chose Marshal8e6 because their solutions are focused specifically on the education space,” said Michael Waranowicz, network administrator at Sayreville Public Schools. “Previously, we had to use multiple vendors to take care of our security needs. With Marshal8e6, we see significant cost and support benefits by having all our e-mail and Web security needs taken care of by one vendor.”
In the past few months alone, Marshal8e6 has added 20 large schools districts and the State of Ohio. Marshal8e6 now has nine statewide contracts and protects over 8 million students in North America.
