Masterskill introduces e-learning with a human touch

Johannesburg, 07 May 2002

Masterskill has introduced human interaction as part of its e-learning solution. The company`s new Learner Management Consultants (LMCs) help clients integrate e-learning into their organisations.

Masterskill MD Madeleine van Tonder says the new LMCs have been introduced to help companies overcome their hesitance at introducing e-learning.

"Some companies associate e-learning with the less successful computer-based training era, in which companies did not always reap the promised rewards," she says. "In addition, classroom-based training is still popular because it offers social interaction and there is always someone providing support and guidance. This interaction plays a critical role in the training process."

However, Van Tonder points out that e-learning also offers numerous benefits, enhancing the traditional classroom experience, providing cost-effective, just-in-time product or service training and allowing for ongoing information and training.

To add the element of human interaction to the benefits of e-learning, Masterskill`s LMCs will assist clients with identifying goals and metrics, creating strategies and tactics, identifying and training stakeholders and resources, and developing a realistic timeline.

"Managers that are responsible for the implementation of a training solution within a company do not always have the time or resources to perform responsibilities such as doing a needs analysis, compiling a detailed project and marketing plan, or doing one-on-one training with users where necessary," says Van Tonder. "LMC`s can assist companies with these tasks, ensuring that employees `feel` the effort made by management to embrace them as valuable contributors to the bottom line."
