Local LaCie distributor, Maxtec Peripherals, has announced the availability of the LaCie Data Watch, which offers 128MB or 256MB flash memory for users on the move.
Christine Nel, product manager at Maxtec, says the Data Watch allows users to transport files between home and work without the risk of carrying and possibly losing their USB keys. "The watch itself is stylish and allows for true portability, so users can move freely and take their data wherever they go," she says.
A convenient USB 2.0 interface delivers fast transfer rates of up to 7.39MB/s (writing and up to 7.68MB/s (reading), which is at least seven times faster than USB 1, according to Nel. "The Data Watch can also be connected to earlier-generation USB 1 devices," she adds. "There is no need for an AC adapter to be employed, users can simply use the power supplied by the USB bus for added mobility."
The watch is fully compatible with Macintosh and Windows operating systems and its widely compatible USB interface allows for simple set-up, plug and play convenience and hot-swappable capabilities for quick and easy exchange of up to 128MB or 256MB of data.
"The LaCie Data Watch allows users to easily transfer audio files, presentations, spread sheets or documents," says Nel. "Removable and compact, the watch is funky and easy to use for universal, cost-effective data exchange and cross-platform data shuffles."
