Maxtec`s loss to deepen

Maxtec has issued a trading statement warning that its loss for the year to 31 August will be materially larger than that of the previous financial year.

The JSE`s listings requirements define this as an increase of between 10% and 30%.

At the same time, the company says it has entered into talks that, if concluded, could affect the price of its shares.

For the year to end-August 2002, Maxtec incurred an attributable loss of R7.45 million, which was an improvement of the previous year`s loss of R10.27 million.

Revenue of R92.85 million for the 2002 financial year was down from R117.82 million previously.

Maxtec reported an attributable loss of R1.75 million for the half-year to February 2003 on revenue of R29.77 million.
