Maxtor products available through Sahara

Johannesburg, 17 Nov 2006

Sahara Computers announces that it will continue to supply the local market with Maxtor-branded products and provide related services and support.

The company has joined industry analysts in welcoming the announcement of a dual brand strategy by global technology supplier Seagate Technology (NYSE: STX), after completing its acquisition of rival storage and drive manufacturer Maxtor Corporation (NYSE:MXO).

The strategy makes provision for the continued trading of the Maxtor brand under the Seagate Technology umbrella.

Sahara is an accredited and authorised distributor of Seagate Maxtor-branded products, a global provider of hard disk drives and data storage solutions.

The company will soon ship in the recently launched and refreshed line of Maxtor's DiamondMax 3.5-inch desktop drives, and new MobileMax 2.5-inch notebook drives.

"We are very excited about the opportunities associated with the introduction of MobileMax into the rapidly expanding mobile market. This will further assist our partners to leverage off the offering," comments Gary Naidoo, deputy MD of Sahara.

"Storage opportunities have been created in many different ways and the challenge facing every value-added reseller is how to define and leverage off their opportunities," he adds.

Naidoo points to several key areas of the ICT sector that he believes continue to play a critical role in shaping the storage market.

These include digital content management including network infrastructure, content creation and usage, as well as content aggregation.

Most recently Sahara announced the signing of a groundbreaking sponsorship and technology supply agreement with Mamelodi Sundowns, a top ranking soccer club competing in South Africa's Professional Soccer League.

The sponsorship is underpinned by the provision of communications infrastructure and mobile technology - including laptops, notebooks and digital lifestyle technology - and signals Sahara's commitment to the club and South African soccer in general.

Effective marketing and generating awareness are significant elements of the company's ongoing marketing campaign.

Under the direction of Gary Naidoo, appointed as Deputy Managing Director of Sahara in December 2005, the company retains a focus on a number of growing market sectors including corporate, government, digital lifestyle and mobile and wireless.
