IPThe Association of Graduate Schools of Business and Management (AGSBM) has organised an exhibition that will discuss educational trends and showcase 16 Master of Business Administration (MBA) accredited business schools.

The expo will open on 13 September at Gallagher Estate and then move to Cape Town`s International Convention Centre on 26 September.

The event is for individuals who are searching for comprehensive information on MBAs as well as business and management short courses, conferences and forums, says Anne Pile, MD of AGSBM. About 1 000 people are expected to attend the event.

"There will be 30 stands, including 16 accredited business schools and 14 businesses at the expo. A panel debate on how business schools can add value to careers is planned," says Pile.

During the exhibition, the organisers and the business schools will give away R200 000 worth of business courses. These include the Senior Management Programme from the University of Pretoria Business Graduate School of Management valued at R27 500 and an Advanced Business Programme from Tshwane University of Technology Business School valued at R19 200.

"The exhibition provides a unique opportunity for individuals and professional people to network, discuss and investigate the many programmes and courses available," says Professor Nick Binedell, Gordon Institute of Business Science director and AGSBM president.

"The event aims to find the synergy between business and education. Various MBAs with specialised streams will be on show as well as a selection of executive education short courses and programmes," he says.

People are finding more value in doing an MBA in SA because business schools are becoming accredited, says Pile.

"The accreditation process for the MBA business schools initially went to six institutions," says Margaret Sutherland, head of academic committee at the Gordon Institute of Business Science. "Now there are 16 business schools, making it harder for people to decide which one is better."
