The MediSwitch division of listed IT group, USKO, has announced that Mediswitch will be integrated into MEDiQII, a Practice Management Software (PMS), developed by a Durban-based company, Gandiva Software. MEDiQII is a DOS-based application developed exclusively for medical professionals.
"Incorporating Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), the MediSwitch real-time transactive switch ensures the rapid processing of data and permits the interpretation, formatting and relay of data between trading partners, allowing for prompt and economical electronic interactions," explains Rob Abraham, managing director of MediSwitch.
"Gandiva Software ise a significant component of the Kwazulu Natal market, " says Abrahams. "We have created a successful partnership, and feel that Gandiva and Mediswitch customers alike will benefit. It is a great opportunity to provide an added value solution to the Kwazulu Natal market," he continues.
According to Muthu Pillay, MEDiQII`s software developer, " The software will now have the added feature of allowing medical practitioners to transmit their claims directly to the participating medical aid administrators , enabling them to action any queries immediately."
"MEDiQII enables the checking of medical records and cash flow, and facilitates the production of paper claims if required," adds Pillay. "It is both DOS and Windows compatible, and Y2K compliant. MEDiQII also allows a membership number for each dependant, provides generic drug comparisons and has numerous search facilities to access data promptly."
The software has the capacity to attach a NAPPI code to each drug item, and updates drug prices via Medprax, a company that issues drug prices electronically.
Gandiva currently has a user base of one hundred and thirty. "We are offering all of our existing users a free upgrade of MEDiQII which will include full Mediswitch functionality," concludes Pillay.
