Megafreight selects Endian UTM from Letlhaka Technologies

Johannesburg, 08 Jul 2010

Megafreight, an international freight forwarder ranking among the top 10 leading forwarders in South Africa, recently acquired and deployed four Endian Macro X1 UTM firewalls from Letlhaka Technologies in South Africa.

The Endian UTM (Unified Threat Management) product family features easy-to-use “all in one” security to deliver maximum protection against data theft, viruses, spyware, spam and other Internet threats.

Megafreight has regional offices in the major centres around South Africa and uses the four Endian Macro X1 UTM appliances to manage traffic routing between their DSL lines at each site.

“We will also use the Endian Macro X1's to monitor traffic, secure our networks, and filter Web browsing” says Dyllan Pascoe, IT Manager for Megafreight. “We have been testing the open source version of Endian for about six months and as such are were impressed with its capabilities. We decided to deploy the fully supported commercial appliance version of Endian in order to receive a robust UTM product for which we receive regular updates and increased functionality.”

“We have been using the Endian UTM appliances in a number of our network deployments, and have yet to find a product in the market with similar features that is quite as easy to set up and at the same price level,” says Letlhaka's technical Director Riaan Janse van Rensburg. “Endian is the ideal unified threat management device for a business environment where you typically want your road warriors to VPN into the office, and you want to control Internet and e-mail usage for your employees.”
