South Africa`s mining giant, Anglo Gold has purchased two Meissner Power Systems 20 kW DP3120 UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) operating in parallel for use at its Diagonal Street offices in Downtown Johannesburg.
Paul Ashworth, product manager at local UPS vendor, Meissner, says that the units will ensure the company has the necessary backup to ensure a clean supply of power to its networks. "These two units will provide Anglo Gold with the reliability, redundancy and growth it needs to maintain its power," he says.
In addition to the above, Anglo Gold has purchased an environmental monitoring card and an out of band monitoring card. The former to ensure accurate temperature and humidity measurements, while the latter enables communications with the UPS from outside the installation area. When coupled with a modem it can facilitate communications with an administrator or technician offsite.
