Mercury, Siebel Systems announce strategic development partnership

Mercury is the first business technology optimisation provider to support the new Siebel Test Automation Interfaces for Siebel 7.7
Johannesburg, 10 Aug 2004

Mercury Interactive Corporation, a global leader in business technology optimisation (BTO), and Siebel Systems, Inc, a leading provider of business applications software, have announced a development agreement to design and build Test Automation Interfaces between Siebel 7.7 and Mercury`s BTO offerings.

The two companies have launched their first joint development product, a new offering designed to enable joint customers to build a library of quality and performance tests that are easy to maintain and run automatically as Siebel applications are deployed or upgraded.

"Enabling our customers to implement comprehensive test automation strategies more efficiently and effectively is a top priority," said Skip Bacon, vice-president of technology at Siebel Systems. "Customer feedback on the success of the new Siebel Test Automation Interfaces with Mercury has been excellent. Internally, we reduced the time required for functional testing and performance testing by 33% and 75%, respectively."

The companies also announced the validation of the integration of Mercury QuickTest Professional and Mercury LoadRunner for the Siebel Test Automation Interfaces for Siebel 7.7.

Dana Gardner, senior analyst at Yankee Group, a US research company, Says: "Our BTO studies show that the total cost of an application over time is in its ongoing management and performance optimisation. Siebel knows this, and has properly sought to cut post-production costs for its customer relationship management solutions by partnering with Mercury for a pre-production testing benefit. The better the testing, the better the performance and end-user satisfaction from the solutions, as well as the higher the general productivity of the business activity."

"Mercury is committed to helping customers optimise the business value of their Siebel business applications," said Magda Engelbrecht of Mercury South Africa. "We are pleased to be the first to support Siebel Test Automation Interfaces, giving customers a predictable and repeatable process to enhance the quality, performance and availability of Siebel 7.7 deployment or upgrades."
