Merge Healthcare, Dell in cloud partnership

imaging developer, Merge has introduced free access to a cloud-based image-sharing network, InformationWeek writes.

The company has partnered with Dell, which already manages more than four billion medical images and related studies.

According to CMIO, utilising its cloud-based health IT, Dell will host Merge Healthcare's Project Honeycomb, a medical image-sharing network. Project Honeycomb allows providers to upload, download, view and share diagnostic quality medical images.

Merge certified its iConnect Vendor Neutral Archive on Dell's DX Object Storage platform for providers who want on-premise secure image management access, storage, protection and distribution to fixed digital image content.

“Dell is pleased to work with Merge to enable our customers to support innovation in healthcare through more efficient use of IT,” Cloud Tweaks quotes David Zirl, area VP for Dell Healthcare and Life Sciences solutions, as saying.

“Digital medical information is growing at an unprecedented rate. Advanced on-premise and cloud-based solutions can break down traditional information silos by allowing healthcare organisations to securely manage, store and share that data as needed to co-ordinate patient care.”
