Merrill Lynch has turned to Dimension Data for a total audiovisual communication solution to improve interaction between analysts, investors and clients, both locally and abroad.
Dimension Data Interactive Media has implemented the integrated audiovisual (AV) communication solution, including videoconferencing capabilities, at Merrill Lynch`s Sandton branch.
The global financial management and advisory company will use its AV solution to help the SA operation tap into Merrill Lynch`s worldwide web of intellectual capital. This includes its investment bankers in London, research analysts in Hong Kong, portfolio managers in Tokyo, private bankers in Switzerland and financial consultants in the United States.
Merrill Lynch`s South African operation will be able to consult with these experts via its videoconferencing system, part of the total AV solution implemented by Dimension Data.
Through Dimension Data`s Polycom videoconferencing system, Merrill Lynch can connect up to four locations for productive, natural video meetings. If more than four sites need to be linked into the videoconference, Merrill Lynch will draw on Interactive Media`s multipoint conferencing service. With this, Dimension Data manages the videoconference, effectively linking participants from around the globe.
The AV solution installed in the company`s 100-seater auditorium, includes specialised lighting, audio (local sound reinforcement), visual (projector, video and other equipment), and a customised touch panel control system.
From the touchpanel control system, programmed to best suit Merrill Lynch`s needs, the presenter can select various lighting scenes and sound levels, depending on the nature of the presentation. A projector, drop down screen, video and other equipment, can also be operated from the touch panel.
In addition, the auditorium has surround sound so the audience can receive the full benefit of DVD or videotape screenings. Presenters are also able to walk around the auditorium with lapel microphones and are assured of being heard with crystal clarity due to the local sound reinforcement.
