The Meta Group 14th annual METAmorphosis conference is to feature significant changes in format and quality.
Meta Group says it is responding to requests for more local experts on hand to give a South African perspective, as well as offering longer "super sessions" to allow delegates to get more out of breakout sessions.
METAmorphosis 2003 will be staged at Caesars Gauteng from 27 to 29 May, under the theme "Delivering the Integrated Portfolio". Jean-Louis Previdi, Meta Group senior VP and research director for the EMEA region, will deliver a keynote address on delivering the integrated portfolio: people, process, platforms and performance.
Giving the media a preview of the event this week, Previdi said too many companies implement IT as "silos", with no bridges between them. He said integration was crucial to success in business, encompassing external, internal, content, infrastructure and corporate culture, among other things.
Meta Group says many companies have leveraged portfolio management to prioritise projects and reduce costs through improved asset management. However, this was merely the tip of the iceberg in terms of the value of IT portfolio management.
The group says companies that apply portfolio management to the full spectrum of integration options will transform themselves into competitive and dominant high-performance enterprises.
METAmorphosis 2003 will include sessions covering the themes: executing on IT`s promise; assessing market-makers in the brave new world of Web services; empowering individuals, teams and communities; delivering utility-grade infrastructure and operations in a services world; evolving the application portfolio; and managing risk and security across the business and IT portfolio.
