MG Rover, the UK`s largest independent car manufacturer, has signed an agreement marking the group`s next significant step forward with IFS. The company`s three-year objective is to implement a fully integrated, business-wide solution centred around IFS Applications. Contracted projects so far in 2002 are valued at about $2 million and include a project to implement MG Rovers` next-generation European Ordering & Finance systems.
Fully implemented in 2003 the European Ordering and Finance system will provide improved online vehicle ordering and vehicle status tracking for MG Rover National Sales Companies and European wide network of 1 000 dealers. MG Rover has been an IFS customer since 1999 and already uses IFS Financials, IFS/Purchasing and IFS Human Resources.
"IFS Applications 2002 will play a significant role in helping MG Rover reduce our current operational costs throughout our supply chain. IFS Applications includes components specifically developed to support leading initiatives for manufacturers and suppliers in the car and truck industry segments. These include comprehensive Quality Monitoring & Analysis tools, designed to QS9000, ISO/TS16949 standards, as well as support for the Supply Chain Operations Reference Model (SCOR) as defined by the Supply Chain Council, Odette, VDA och ASC X.12. Furthermore IFS provides for e-trading with the extended enterprise - out to customers or suppliers either using Portal Technology or Web Collaboration tools.
Customers with large installations include Volvo Cars, BMW, MG Rover, Scania Trucks, Volvo Trucks, Unipart, Finnveden Sheetmetal, Avestor, Expert Components and London Taxis. IFS is working in alliance with Atos Origin and other partners to further penetrate the European and North American automotive sector.
