MGX nears name change

Johannesburg, 17 Dec 2004

MGX Holdings says it expects its new name, Metrofile Holdings, to take effect from 31 January.

This is the day the Registrar of Companies is expected to register the special resolution relating to the change of name, it says.

The group says in a notice issued on Wednesday night that the new share code will be MFL and the share will trade under the abbreviated name of Metrofile.

The name change is subject to shareholder approval and the registration of the change by the registrar.

The name change comes after an extensive restructuring exercise that saw the group dispose of all its operating assets except subsidiary Metrofile.

Last month the group announced that it was selling 5% of subsidiary Metrofile to an employee share trust and another 5% to Sabvest Investments, a company headed by MGX chairman Christopher Seabrooke.

MGX says the stakes will be sold for R5 000 each, as the deals have been priced on the same basis of the recent black empowerment deal with Mineworkers Investment Company.

That deal, announced in October, saw MGX sell 25% of Metrofile for R25 000.
