VERITAS Software`s partner in Nigeria, Microbyte International, will be upgrading its partnership status from Select to Premier under the Vplus Channel Partner programme.
Microbyte, a full service computer company offering the latest in computer technology, is a recent appointment that services the West African region for VERITAS Software. As a Premier Vplus Channel Partner, Microbyte will offer service and support, as well as supply, high volume products as well as the on-line, enterprise backup, hierarchical storage management (HSM) and application solutions. These solutions include Backup Exec, which VERITAS acquired through the purchase of Seagate Software.
"Our market is very new and with the recent shift to a democratic government there is currently huge growth in the market. It is the new government`s policy to computerise the entire economy, from banking and insurance houses right through to industry, including the large oil companies situated here," says Dele Ajisomo, MD of Microbyte International.
Mike Rees, business development manager at VERITAS Software South Africa, says: "Currently VERITAS has limited market penetration with a few large customers in the region which will grow with the appointment of Microbyte. Also, existing customers will enjoy the benefit of local support of their VERITAS availability solutions."
Microbyte offers first line support for West African customers while second line support is escalated and handled by the traditional support channels. The VERITAS South Africa office will train Microbyte technical and sales staff. The company will then pass on this expertise to its customers. "Microbyte has a strong set of skills because it is already a certified Microsoft and Novell training centre, and this is a good foundation from which to build the necessary skills to support and maintain the VERITAS range of products," concludes Rees.
