Microsoft today announced the appointment of Jeremy Dale to EMEA Regional Vice-President of Retail Sales and Marketing in the Entertainment & Devices Division.
Dale will be responsible for expanding the reach of Microsoft consumer products and continuing to strengthen the Microsoft brand throughout EMEA, reporting to Redmond-based Corporate Vice-President, Mitch Koch. Dale joins Microsoft from his former position as CMO for the mobile devices division of Motorola.
Dale will focus on expanding the reach of Microsoft's consumer product portfolio, including Xbox, Windows, Office and PC hardware, and on working with retail throughout Europe to bring hardware, software and service experiences to life in new and engaging ways.
“I think we are living in really exciting times at the moment. We are seeing cool, life-enhancing experiences being delivered across devices and formats,” said Dale. “As I spent time with the team at Microsoft, it became very clear to me that this company is on a path to bridge the three screens that consumers use everyday - PC, mobile phone and TV - and I can't think of any company in the world who is better positioned to deliver that full integrated experience to consumers than Microsoft. I'm joining a very strong and growing organisation with a great deal of upward momentum, and I'm looking forward to being part of that team.”
Dale's background includes two decades of world-class leadership experience in gaming, television and mobile devices, which includes driving global marketing and sales for Nintendo, ITV Digital, Orange and, most recently, Motorola. This experience makes him the ideal candidate to bring Microsoft's three-screen strategy to life in Europe.
During his tenure at Motorola, Dale played a key role in expanding to emerging markets, driving significant market share increases and successfully implementing overall global marketing strategies, as well as local executions. He drove expansion in to new markets, including China; led the company's participation in the Product Red programme that was created by Bono; and brought David Beckham on board as brand ambassador as well as taking Razr to iconic status.
As Commercial and Marketing Director for Nintendo's UK business, Dale launched the legendary Pokémon franchise and spearheaded the resurgence of the Gameboy brand. At Orange, he was responsible for campaigns such as Orange Wednesdays and the Orange phone trainer campaign, plus other award-winning work.
“We are thrilled to have Jeremy join our team and look forward to having his expertise expand the reach of Microsoft products and strengthen the Microsoft brand throughout EMEA,” said Corporate Vice-President for WWRSM, Mitch Koch.
