Johannesburg, 15 Feb 2002

Scala Business Software has announced that Scala is the 'ERP Solution of the Year' for 2001, awarded in the fourth annual Microsoft Certified Partner Awards. In the award ceremony on 15 July, held at Microsoft's Fusion 2001 partner event in Anaheim, California, US, Scala's back-office software was declared the world's best ERP application.

"Microsoft is excited to recognise Scala Business Solutions for their commitment to delivering global ERP applications based on Microsoft's latest technology," said Ian Rogoff, Vice President Worldwide Partner Group at Microsoft.

"Scala's connected ERP is core to e-business management and Microsoft's .NET platform provides the foundation to make it a reality. This award recognises the value that Scala offers to its customers in over 100 countries."

Shamik Sinha, CEO of Scala Africa, added: "Scala's key strength is its ability to integrate its standard products with other ERP applications like SAP. The need to deliver pragmatic e-business is one of the key drivers for local software standardisation. For us, a number of Microsoft technologies are fundamental to how we develop and deliver our software around the local markets to help maintain our capability, and our price-performance advantage, without compromising on our local language and delivery capability.

"Our mission is to fulfil all local expectation of our most demanding customers, in every part of the Africa and Southern Africa," said Sinha.

"Our vision has always been to develop world-class, cost-effective software that combines back-office functionality with leading-edge Internet technology to be delivered to the local market."

Scala delivers the right mix of products and services to meet customers' changing needs in a rapidly changing business world, whether they operate globally or in a local capacity. Our products can be deployed to give our customers the standardisation they need for making business simple.

"We are relentless in our value propositions but deliver flawlessly on our commitments," said Sinha.
