If you are an academic institution registered with the Department of Education or ISETT SETA and thinking about becoming an ITA member, you probably want to maximise the students you attract and send them into the labour market with the skills employers need.
Even if you are already doing well in reaching these objectives, there is always room to do better. The question is, how? Intersoft invites you to an ITA workshop that tells you exactly how.
The goals and objectives of the ITA programme are to help academic institutions such as yours to: upskill, certify and employ. Specifically, to upskill students to get them to the stage where they can attain international certification, so that their chances of getting employment are maximised. Students are going to go to institutions that provide the best training, most relevant certification and the best chance of employment.
If you can offer them this, they'll be choosing to study with you. All Microsoft international certifications are aligned to local unit standards and the learner gains automatic credits towards a local NQF qualification.
The half-day workshops will be held in Johannesburg (4 June), Cape Town (5 June) and Durban (6 June).
* Teresa Canady, Director, Emerging Markets, Microsoft Learning will give a run down on the World Wide Programme and international developments.
* Francine Fisher, Microsoft Learning Academic Area Lead (Africa, Middle East & CEE), will talk on e-learning (electronic learning) usage within the Microsoft ITA programme.
* Reza Bardien, Academic Programmes Manager Microsoft South Africa, will then discuss ASGISA@MS, a skills continuum and roadmap toward employability as well as other educational programme initiatives by Microsoft SA.
* Carol Pepper, local Wiley representative, will present on WileyPLUS, a course management system for learners and lecturers that works hand-in-glove with the ITA programme.
* Ronald Woolf, Microsoft IT Academy Manager, will give an overview of local ITA programme developments and how ITA members benefit from participating.
* The workshop ends with a question and answer session with a panel of experts and you will leave with much broader ideas about the possibilities available to you.
The ITA programme is at the core of government's ICT skills policy. It already contributes greatly to strengthen ICT skills and talent in this country. Any academic institution is eligible to join this programme. It's incredibly affordable and the value-adds are the best available anywhere in the world. This means that it is possible for high schools or small academies to be able to offer this programme to its learners. This is an opportunity for all private and public schools, FET colleges and universities to learn about the possibilities for themselves and their students. Seats are limited and booking is essential. RSVP jacqui@intersoft.co.za or contact Jacqui at Intersoft on (011) 325 2643.
