Mimecast, an e-mail management company offering SaaS-based email archiving, continuity, security and policy control, today announced it has formed an alliance with Cable&Wireless Worldwide, one of the world's leading communication companies. The partnership is a significant step in the development of the Mimecast Partner Programme. Cable&Wireless has integrated the Mimecast service to complement its current hosted Microsoft Exchange offering.
Julian Martin, Business Development Director at Mimecast, discusses the benefits of this partnership: “The timing of the approach was perfect, as Mimecast was seeking a partner that could provide a solid, fully hosted Exchange environment, a requirement that has been frequently requested by our enterprise prospects and clients. We know e-mail is mission-critical, but can be a huge drain on resource when incorrectly delivered in-house, so by partnering with Cable&Wireless, customers have an alternative and are now able to reduce the burden of managing Exchange and still enjoy the added business benefits of the Mimecast service.”
Cable&Wireless customers can already benefit from a managed solution for Microsoft Exchange that facilitates mobility and provides customers with anytime, anywhere access to e-mail, shared calendars, tasks and folders, while fully safeguarding sensitive corporate and employee information. The resilient and scalable service includes hardware implementation, hosting, licensing, virus and spam protection, BlackBerry access and 24x7 monitoring of all e-mail traffic. By working with Mimecast, Cable&Wireless is now able to offer e-mail archiving, which complies with the regulation requiring companies to archive their e-mail for up to 10 years. Delivered as a service, with sub-second e-mail retrieval and backed by industry-leading SLAs, this alleviates the burden that currently sits with pressured IT teams that have many business-critical projects they need to address.
Lucas Searle, Product Manager at Cable&Wireless Worldwide, explains: “We already offer a hosted Exchange environment for our customers, and after a thorough investigation into the latest technologies available, we chose Mimecast to deliver a complementary e-mail archiving solution. Their online e-mail archiving is enhanced by their unified e-mail management approach and enables us to offer customers additional functionality such as continuity, data leak prevention and eDiscovery. This is what our customers are asking for and this partnership now gives us a unique position in the marketplace.”
Craig Savage, IT Security Manager at MITIE, an existing Mimecast and Cable&Wireless customer, discusses the significance of this partnership: “A key reason for selecting the Mimecast service was its industry leading e-mail security, continuity and archiving solution. We chose to partner with Cable&Wireless for its proven ability to fully manage our Exchange environment. These two companies, working together, will provide a truly exceptional end-to-end solution for e-mail to the enterprise, and are likely to set a new standard to be achieved by their competition.”
IDC analyst Eric Domage commented: “This is a significant announcement for both Mimecast and Cable&Wireless; it brings together the strength of Mimecast's unified e-mail security, continuity and archiving with the go to market capabilities and e-mail hosting services of Cable&Wireless. This solves a significant proportion of customers' e-mail management problems and is a compelling and unique proposition.”
